The reason I did the early post on Thursday was because we took off that night for Kansas City for a wedding. One of Hubby’s good friends from college got married on Saturday, so we packed up the car and headed out for a little extended weekend.
I didn’t bring the fancy camera because I was sick of packing things, so I decided to just take some pictures using my new phone. And just to warn you, I did a very poor job of taking pictures in general.
Our first meal on Thursday evening was at Panera in Waterloo. We like going there because there is a kids menu (Tyler loves the the mac and cheese) and there is plenty of room for him to run around. I enjoyed a bowl of french onion soup and half a chicken caesar sandwich while Hubby had the chipotle chicken sandwich.
Just ignore the baby hand reaching for his mac and cheese.
We stayed at a friend’s house that night and of course Tyler woke up when we took him out of the car. Think he was up from 12:30 to 2 or something like that. Good thing he slept in a little. He sure loved this set-up, an air mattress inside a tent inside a spare room.
The next morning we made some eggs and hashbrowns for breakfast. The men went golfing so Tyler and I went for a walk in the extremely humid outdoors then went shopping in the nice AC.
We had a late lunch because we had to head to another friend’s house for the evening. Just to warn you, this lunch was pretty amazing.
I’m sure you all knew this, but Kansas City is known for their bbq. The best place for bbq in KC has got to be Oklahoma Joe’s. It’s a restaurant that’s in the back of a gas station. Impressive, right?
Oh my gosh this is so good. You have to go here if you’re in Kansas City. I had pulled pork and 3 ribs, and Hubby had the Z-man sandwich, which is not the healthiest, but definitely the tastiest.
All that wonderful meat and all Tyler would eat was the Texas toast.
Since we stuffed ourselves so late in the afternoon, we skipped supper. Or I guess you could say we drank our supper.
We met up with our big group of friends and went out on the town Friday night, but I started feeling like crap, getting a sore throat and a pressure headache. I’m pretty sure it was all allergies, but it got way worse the next day.
Saturday was wedding day. A group of us grabbed some early lunch from Panera (this time I had the strawberry poppyseed salad- yum yum) and then it was off to our hotel to get ready and drop off the little guy.
We were very fortunate to have Hubby’s sister and dad (Tyler’s auntie and grandpa) come into town to watch Tyler while we were at the wedding. I think they had a good time with the little man.
I did not do well with taking pictures at the wedding. We took this one when we got there, and that’s about it.
The wedding was beautiful, it was at a really nice country club and the whole night was great. I was a major party pooper though and sat off to the side the whole night because my throat was on fire, my head felt like it was going to explode and I was getting chills all the time even though it was warm in there. And I could hardly talk at that point.
I pretty much stopped taking pictures after that, sorry. It was a lovely meal, then today we had breakfast at our hotel (made to order omelets!) and Jimmy John’s for lunch.
Just a light supper and here I am, totally ready for bed. I need to get all the rest I can, because I have a pretty big week coming up. My little baby brother gets married next weekend!!
I think I’m going to have to run 4 miles a day just to fit in my dress for his wedding, since we ate so horribly this weekend. Hopefully my mother the master seamstress can open up those seams and give me some room!
